25/11/2023 – Johnny Hates Jazz (and other revelations in Askham Richard)

On a bitterly cold but sunny November morning six intrepid riders set out for this week’s ride. The intended destination was York but after an impromptu meeting chaired by Chris the decision was made to change the cafe stop to Askham Richard due to one of the group needing to be back at 2.30pm.

The temperature at departure was sub zero and there was some ice on the roads but we took it steady and avoided any shattered dreams.

One of the joys of cycling regularly in a club is getting to know your club mates. This week in Airedale Olympic we learned about how jazz makes Jonathan angry and why he doesn’t eat turkey at Christmas (I will spare you the details). I am looking forward to more revelations over the coming weeks!

Distance for me was 64 miles and 3800 feet of climbing. First thing this morning I wished I could turn back the clock and stay in bed. However, I was pleased that I made the effort and got out. Thanks to all those who braved the elements and made it an enjoyable ride.
