Like licking snot off a tortoise….

Nine riders met up this morning in Rawdon for a steady ride to Burnsall, destination the WharfeView Tea Room. It was particularly good to welcome back Jay and Dave on a Saturday ride and great to see Dan riding well after his recent collision with a motorist.

Weather conditions were a bit cold, a bit overcast and generally a bit disappointing. Despite this there was plenty of optimism in the bunch as we headed towards the Dales. Dave turned back at Bolton Abbey and the remaining eight pushed on.

Once we arrived at the cafe we settled down for some refreshment and waited expectantly to be entertained by Jonathan, he didn’t disappoint. We were updated on Claudia Schiffer’s cat, given a lesson in blagging lagging and were informed how eating oysters is like licking snot off a tortoise.

The food arrived and after watching Jay semi-successfully eat a sausage and egg sandwich (Ian, don’t worry you are still the reigning club champion) we set off home.

Hamish decided to go solo to climb some hills around Pateley Bridge. Jay needed to get back quickly so Dan and I joined him in forming a breakaway group, while the others followed at a more sensible pace.

It was another great day out on the bike, 54 miles for me and 4000 feet of climbing.

Hopefully see you all next week, cheers Steve
