6 set off from a cold and misty Rawdon for ‘Buffers’ Cafe , now ‘Back o the hill farm cafe’, the spiritual home of Airedale Olympic. It was a shorter ride as most were helping out on Sunday at the club’s Reliability Ride. As the temperature dropped and the mist persisted, we headed out of Ilkley for Langbar coming out of the mist into sunshine as we reached the top of the moor. Langbar was misty but very atmospheric. Dom leaving us as Beamsley to head up to Burnsall for a longer ride. Arriving at the cafe we had it and the warming log burner to ourselves.
After very good bacon sandwiches tea & coffee, a chat about motorcycles, as both Chris & Jonathan have bought motorised 2 wheelers again, is this the start of Airedale’s Angel’s chapter ? we headed back. Splitting at Ilkley for some to return to Rawdon and Chris & Jonathan heading home via Otley.
34 miles and 2400 ft elevation for me at the end of the ride.
