Eight riders met up at 9am in Rawdon, this week’s destination was the Tancred Farm Shop in Whixley. It was good to welcome back David after his world tour.
We headed off towards Shadwell where we were joined by Ian and Chris.
With the sun making a much welcome return we set off in good spirits. Things quickly went wrong for Dom when his battery ran out in his shifter and he decided to turn back muttering ‘how will I know?’ under his breath.
The remaining riders pressed on, topics of conversation included film / TV recommendations (Ian and Steve) travel destinations (David and Nick) and motorbikes (guess who!).
Later when Jonathan’s bike developed a creak, he dismissed any concerns from his fellow club members announcing ‘it’s not right but it’s ok’.
At the farm shop we enjoyed some tremendous bacon sandwiches, Dave L did his best Robert Smith from the Cure impression and Nick impressed us with his knowledge of all things Whitney Houston.
We set off back with a tailwind which is always nice to offset the effects of a cafe stop. The trip back saw some breaks in the Airedale peloton, one tired rider suggested we should push on without him saying ‘I have nothing’. This offer was gently but firmly rejected and we finished the ride together.
Another great day out in the saddle, it was 68 miles for me with 4200 feet of climbing.
Cheers
Steve
