Six riders met up in Rawdon on Saturday morning, after a quick discussion Hamish and Dan set off for How Stean Gorge and the remaining four decided to head to Burnsall. A variety of excuses were offered, back injuries, lack of fitness and jet lag were all apologetically mumbled as Hamish and Dan sped off into the distance.
As usual all kinds of intellectual topics were discussed including Robert Di Niro’s virility, Marcus Rashford’s Rolls Royce and which pub should we go to after the ride.
After a steady ride along the valley, we arrived at the Wharfdale team rooms and enjoyed the usual friendly welcome and decent value food and drink.
On the way back we experienced cross winds which was a bit disappointing as we were expecting a tailwind. However, we managed to avoid any of the rain and high winds which had been forecast for the afternoon.
Total distance for me was 50 miles with 3500 feet of climbing.
Cheers
Steve
P.s. we ended up in the Horsforth Brewery tap room
