Choose Life, choose a job, choose a career, choose to go cycling on a sunny Saturday. (Trainspotting in Hellifield)

Renton, Sickboy, Begbie and the rest of the gang at Hellifield station

On the first hot sunny Saturday of the year, eight Airedale riders met up in Rawdon with Hellifield as the destination.

Things got off to a shaky start as one member managed to crash in the car park before he had managed to complete one revolution of his wheels. (I am not allowed to mention who, Alan swore me to silence).

Once we got going we were treated to some beautiful Yorkshire countryside, riding in glorious sunshine. Spirits were high as we made our way out west.

Blue skies and quiet (ish) roads

Dave L turned back at Silsden and left seven of us to complete the outward leg. We arrived at the cafe (Shed24 at Hellifield Station) and grabbed a table on the platform of the station, Jonathan and Steve selfishly taking the comfy armchairs.

The Cafe got the Chris Stoneman official seal of approval. Less than £6 for a drink and a bacon sandwich, we will return.

On the return leg Dan and Steve pushed on ahead as Steve’s family commitments were encroaching on his Saturday ride. This left the remaining five to ride back at a more sensible pace.

Total distance for me was 69 miles with 5200 feet of climbing.

Thanks to all participants for making this another great ride out.

Cheers

Steve
