After last week’s low turnout we were back up to a larger group this week, for a flatter ride out to Selby.
We eventually got up to eight riders once we met Jay and Jonathan in Barwick-in Elmet (Dave L turned back at Shadwell).
A SRAN group consisting of five riders formed leaving Chris, Jonathan and Alan to follow behind (not that far behind as it turns out…)
We arrived in a gridlocked Selby (Chris made friends with a local BMW driver) to find our intended cafe (Bistro 81) was closed until 12pm. After some bumbling about, we decided to head to Lola’s cafe in the park.
Lola’s cafe is perhaps the best value cafe that Airedale has visited in some time, £4.95 for a drink a bacon sandwich and a couple of hash browns. Chris literally punched the air when he saw the prices.
The journey back saw different groups form, Ian and Steve joined Chris and Alan, Jonathan and Jay headed home a more direct route and Dan raced back with Hamish to help him train for the coast to coast.
The weather was warm and sunny, proving to be too hot for the pessimists in gilets.
Total distance was 75 miles for me with 3500 feet of climbing
Cheers
Steve
