Let it Shine!

Take That have let themselves go…

Only four takers for a sunny, flat ride out to Bolton Percy. We met Ian at Shadwell and set off together, Hamish formed a breakaway group of one and rode on ahead (it was an unusually amicable split for a boy band).

The remaining three members made steady progress to the cafe enjoying the pleasant weather and conversation.

After about 30 miles we arrived at Doyles Tea Room and went in to order. I decided to branch out from my usual bacon sandwich and asked how long does a cheese and ham toastie take?, “Don’t worry, It only takes a minute” was the reply from the waitress.

We sat outside and just as we finished eating Hamish turned up, having completed a longer route to the cafe. Ian proposed a second drink so we settled back down for another 20 minutes.

On the way back Hamish once again left the group to pursue other solo projects, only to rejoin later near Scarcroft, this time claiming he was Back for Good. We said farewell to Ian shortly after and the three of us made our way to Rawdon via Stairfoot lane and Cookridge.

Not the Greatest Day, but pretty close, it was 60 miles for me with 3600 feet of climbing.

Cheers Steve
