Things ain’t cooking in my kitchen…

Bikes are optional at AOCC

This week the AIR had planned to go to the cafe at Paceline Cycles in Crosshills and the SRAN were on a longer route to Barnoldswick. Due to Ian’s late withdrawl the AIR agreed that we didn’t need to look at bikes and that a stop half way would be better so we decided to head to Skipton.

The five of us initially rode together and the AIR riders were feeling that they were holding their own until Hamish announced that the SRAN would push on and he and Nathan quickly disappeared over the horizon.

The weather was good (there was a ‘Distant Sun’), in front of us were some rain clouds but we had a tail wind so they stayed ahead.

We arrived at the coffee house to be confronted with the disastrous news that the kitchen was closed so no bacon sandwiches, this meant plan B, ‘Chocolate Cake’ anyone?

I rallied after the disappointing news…

On the way back we experienced a couple of terrifying overtaking manoeuvres from some less than considerate motorists but we made it back to Rawdon in one piece.

Another great day out, unfortunately no post ride beers as I had received word that I had ‘Better be Home Soon’

54 miles for me with 4500 feet of climbing.

Cheers

Steve

P.s. apologies to Crowded House for the tortured references
