Breaking News: Average age on the AIR ride dips below 50!

Another glorious sunny Saturday saw 5 riders meet at Rawdon, one of which was Ryan a Leeds Beckett 1st year who joined us for his first AOCC ride.

This week’s ride was out to Boroughbridge, Dave L turned back at Linton as he had planned leaving Dom, Alan and Steve to chase after Ryan all the way to the cafe.

This resulted in an average speed of 16mph for the first half of the ride, unprecedented in recent years for an AIR ride.

Five miles before the cafe stop Steve suffered a puncture, luckily a plug filled the cut in the tyre and we were on our way reasonably quickly.

We arrived at ‘Plenty’ in Boroughbridge grateful of the rest and enjoyed our meal.

On the way back cafe legs kicked in and gaps began to appear in the peloton. Dom and Alan kindly volunteered Steve to accompany Ryan up Weardley bank and then show him the way back to Headingley.

Once Ryan was pointed in the right direction the remaining three met in Bramhope and rolled back to Rawdon at a more sensible pace.

Another great day out in the saddle, 69 miles for me with 4100 feet of climbing and an average speed of 15.5mph.

Cheers

Steve

P.s. I missed my PB on the Weardley Bank segment by 1 second
