Who’s Zed? Zed’s dead baby, Zed’s dead…

Another gratuitous car park shot

On an overcast and miserable looking morning, four riders met at Rawdon. This week’s plan was to cycle to the farm shop in Cracoe. We were expecting Hamish until we received word that he was running late and that he would catch us up (not a chance we thought, not with the elite peloton that we had assembled).

Anyway, Hamish caught up with us in Ilkley and the five of us rode through the mist to Cracoe.

There was plenty of quality AIR chatter on the way, Hamish quickly realised what he was missing every week riding with the SRAN and as a result chose to ride back on his own from the cafe.

Topics of conversation this week included, racist in-laws, the US election, Lou Reed, XTC and low cost sunglasses.

The highlight of the ride was when we arrived at the cafe to find a selection of camouflage gear (for sale?) making the corner of the cafe look like Zed’s shop in Pulp Fiction.

Bring out the gimp!

The ride home followed the back road via Hebden and Appletreewick. We took advantage of the lovely road surface and the long downhill from Strid Wood to Bolton Abbey to have a ‘no pedal race’. Dom seemed very pleased that his minor weight difference worked in his favour for once.

We managed to get back to Rawdon without any rain, it was another enjoyable day in the saddle. Distance was 57 miles for me with 4000 feet of climbing, average speed was 13.5 miles an hour.

Cheers Steve
