An enjoyable ride to Cawood

Twas a good ride today, one of two halves in a way. Dom, Ryan and myself set off from Rawdon and I enjoyed the swift but not too crazy pace. Dom gave us an education on the civil war as we passed the fields where the bloodiest battle took place. A sobering moment before we sped on.

Meanwhile, unbeknown to trio a secret rider was closing in, but the three riders pressed on obliviously…
Sadly Dom had to peel away as life doesn’t always allow for the rides we want and we have to take what we can get and begrudgingly go back to ‘normal’ life.

Then to the surprise of the two remaining air riders, just a mile later, the secret rider, despite his best efforts to catch up sooner, finally bridged the gap and the air ride became SRAN.

The speed then nudged up a couple of mph because of course it was Nathan that caught us. But all was good and we made the cafe and enjoyed some refreshments ( I’m definitely having the avo and poached eggs again ).

Time to head back and life was good… for a while. Dan appears to be back to his previous level of fitness as he began to struggle at the 3 hour mark while Nathan and Ryan looked strong but kindly waited and slowed some what so we all made it to the outskirts of Leeds where we all parted ways.

Another mild November day with 67.7 miles for me and 3494ft of climbing.
