Chilly, damp and grey weather was a relative positive on Sunday morning when compared to the freezing, pouring and howling conditions February has provided in years gone by, even it wasn’t the clear skies and mild temperatures that really bring riders out.

That said, more than 50 riders did come out and prove the reliability of their fitness and their bicycle by completing the course from Pool-in-Wharfedale to Knaresborough. This included olympians, aspiring racers and cyclists from the local clubs.
The majority took on the 75km long route, with the fastest completing the course in a little over 2 hours, whilst the 50km short route was popular with those factoring in the ride to the start and back from the finish.
An excellent spread of soup, sandwiches and cake was again put on by the ladies of the Holy Trinity Church Hall in Knaresborough, to whom we give a small charitable donation each year.
If you rode the reliability ride, then congratulations and thank you for your support! If you didn’t, then why not next year? This ride is typically the fifth in the Yorkshire Reliability Ride series taking part each winter-spring. See the Struggle website for further details…
