Our club ride this weekend was to Trawden over in that there Lancashire.
With rain and wind forecast there was just 3 of us in the group for a hilly 50 mile ride. We pushed out in a headwind via Silsden and Crosshills to Trawden for a coffee at Jackie & Francesca’s Old Rock Cafe. Thumbs up for the fruit teacake with homemade rhubarb jam.
No place for cafe legs here though as you’re out of the door and straight into a climb. Then more climbs up and over to Howarth but now with a tailwind we made good progress slowing only for repeated sections of ‘surface dressing’.
We finished coming back via Thackley and Apperley Bridge for a change and final climb up to Rawdon. 50 miles and 5000 ft climbing done at 14 mph average.
