Pump up the Jam

This week we went to Kilnsey as a slightly shorter ride than the planned destination of Settle given the heatwave temperatures and hosting a prospective new member.

Eight of us set off in the group. With a couple of planned early departures at Ilkley and Burnsall six of us sat down for cold drinks and a bite to eat at

the Lakeside Cafe. The toasted tea cakes were lovely but as the jam attracted a few resident wasps, we got back on the bikes to depart.

At this point we discovered a punctured tyre and tested a full range of technologies to repair. The tubeless sealant worked, as did the electric pump, but ultimately it was a good old fashioned hand pump that did the trick!

We rode at a steady pace to suit all in the group and stopped for extra cold drinks when needed. This was a really nice ride in glorious weather enjoyed by all and hopefully a good introduction to club riding for our prospective new member.

If you’re interested in trying out a ride or joining the club we’d love to hear from you. Please send us an email. We can’t guarantee this weather but we will do all else to have a great ride!
