Don’t look back in anger (or at all)

Noel, Liam, Bonehead et al..

Eight riders met at Rawdon for this week’s club ride. We were joined by Hamish’s brother Alistair, who had made a fourteen hour round trip from Aberdeen to enjoy a bike ride, with his brother.

Dom and Alan formed a ‘slower’ group leaving six of us to ride together.

It was a hilly ride to Airton, but the weather was sunny and mild as we chased Hamish and Nathan across the Yorkshire countryside.

After a tough two hours, we were grateful to arrive at the farmshop at Airton and it was good for Alistair to see his brother up close after only getting the odd glimpse of him over the previous thirty miles. It was also good to see the ‘slower’ group arrive only five minutes behind us.

After enjoying our lunch, we headed back to Rawdon. Dom and Alan again formed a ‘slower’ group and set off five minutes before the rest of us leaving with a cheery ‘see you in a few minutes when you come flying past us.’

Fifteen miles later we were starting to think we would never see them again, when we eventually caught sight of them in the distance. We regrouped at Bolton Abbey and rode the the rest of the way together.

It was a great ride out, the distance for me was 64 miles with 5400 feet of climbing and an average speed of 14.8mph. As for next week’s ride, put me down as Definitely Maybe…
